Learning Something New

Just a couple of days ago, a friend had invited me to a Perfume Party hosted by her friend she knew in church, at their place in Jindalee. Jindalee seems to be a peaceful and quiet suburb in Brisbane that I was (and still am) alien to, except for that familiar feelings I had during my stay in Cherrybrooke, the suburb my relatives resides in Sydney. Maybe is the environment, maybe is the australian house with asian family...family....it's been quite awhile....

Well, it wasn't exactly perfume perfume as I expected, the whole session was mainly on aromatherapy..ahhh. Little I know about aromatherapy but apparently, it is used in therapies and at home to transform emotions and to heal sickness. Amazing. Aromatherapy was discovered by the Egyptians long time ago (by the Chinese and Indians as well), who used the method of infusion to extract the oils from aromatic plants medicinal and elbalming purposes. This oil extraction are time consuming and expensive, and do you know that it takes about 100 kilograms of rose petals only to produce 4 to 5 teaspoonful of oil??? WOW! No wonder it is killingly expensive!!

I also learned that aromatherapy can be done in different methods -by soaking your body or foot with few drops of essential oils added in warm water, burning scented candles (with essential oils) to fill the surrounding air, and aromatic massage are few examples. Different combination drops of essential oils were used for different types of purposes. The best part was, the experience of learing how to do some simple hand/arm massage technique and then being massaged...it was simply...relaxing...boy, I love massage!!! hahaa...if I have that money, I wouldn't mind spending a day, few times a month in a spa...ooOoo....

I personally remain a little skeptical about the effects of aromatherapy (e.g. it can heal arthiritis just by inhaling the scent..wow, really?), although it is really interesting and I wouldn't mind being pampered once in awhile with this therapy..ahhHhhhhh...

Apart from learning something different, something new, it was great having the opportunity to meet some nice lovely people. Thanks heaps for the day mil...it was definitely a good one:)
